  • There’s enough messages out there of “dream big!” I just wanted you to know that sometimes. Lot’s of times... …it's ok be content with living small. Small doesn’t mean deficient. Small does not denote lesser value. I’ve come to think of small as being concentrated. Undiluted. Focused on the stuff that really matters. Attentive to the right things —not EVERYthing. Big can feel exciting. Big feels like moving, and doing, and accomplishing, and others noticing. Big is loud. Big is seen. Big is boisterous. It beckons. Choosing small is being deliberate. Choosing small takes effort. Choosing not to place emphasis on accumulating things, or likes from strangers on the internet, or commitments on your calendar takes focus. Choosing small means reminding yourself over and over again of your commitment when out of the corner of your eye BIG THINGS threaten to distract you from what’s most important. Yes. Life feels pretty small these days…and this calm, ordinary, simple little life is everything I never knew I always wanted. My circle of influence may be small compared to the world’s standards, but it’s where I’ve been planted & it’s where I intend to focus my greatest efforts. All I need is a small, modest life filled with love and a little bit of adventure. That’s enough for me.
  • My word for 2021 found me a few months ago and that word is...⁣ ⁣ L I S T E N⁣ ⁣ Merriam-Webster defines hearing as the “process, function, or power of perceiving sound; specifically: the special sense by which noises and tones are received as stimuli.” Listening, on the other hand, means “to pay attention to sound; to hear something with thoughtful attention; and to give consideration.”⁣ ⁣ I want to tune out the noise around me so I can pay closer attention to the sounds that matter the very most. ⁣ ⁣ • I want to listen for the voice of the Lord in my life.⁣ • I want to listen to my intuition.⁣ • Listen to my body.⁣ • I want to be in tune enough to hear what isn’t being said. ⁣ • To listen with the intent to act.⁣ • I want to listen with love.⁣ • I want to allow enough space in my daily schedule that I can listen better.⁣ ⁣ If you pick a word for the year, what's your word?   • Yesterday I turned 42. ⁣⁣ ⁣⁣ It was a low-key, beautiful day spent with my family. They spoiled me with homemade gifts, my favorite mini M&M's and an evening walk to our favorite spot to watch the sun set. ⁣⁣ ⁣⁣ As I look back on the past year I can't help but feel overwhelmed with appreciation for where life has brought me. ⁣⁣ ⁣⁣ Not just WHERE I am as in location....though I absolutely LOVE where we live...but where I am physically after struggling with my health for so long. Where I am in my family relationships and where I am personally. ⁣⁣ ⁣⁣ I've found hope through the hard things, comfort amidst the challenges and strength during the struggles. ⁣⁣ ⁣⁣ These words express so much better than I ever could how I'm feeling about all this year has been... ⁣⁣ For the highs and lows⁣⁣ and moments between⁣⁣ mountains and valleys⁣⁣ rivers and streams,⁣⁣ for “I’ve always known”⁣⁣ and “I told you,”⁣⁣ for ‘nothing is happening’⁣⁣ and ‘all has gone wrong’⁣⁣ it is here on the journey⁣⁣ she will learn to be strong⁣⁣ she will get where she is going⁣⁣ landing where she belongs.⁣⁣ ⁣⁣ - Morgan Harper Nichols #simpleasthatsilhouettes
  • As I’ve been moving towards using more natural cleaners around our home I’ve experimented with a few different homemade cleaners and this nightly sink scrub has been a favorite.
