32 Loveable Valentines Books for Kids

Wednesday, January 23, 2013

Tired of keeping up with the holiday hustle? Enjoy a calm season filled with MORE memories & LESS overwhelm: Join us for 12 Days to a Simpler Holiday Season.

I’m excited to be sharing another fun booklist with you today to kick off one of my most favourite holidays – Valentine’s Day! I’ve ordered over 50 Valentines books from the library in the past few weeks and the kids and I have had so much fun reading them ALL! These are some of our favourites. Scroll down to the bottom of the list to see which titles made our top five!

10 Valentine Friends
Where Is Baby’s Valentine?
How Do You Hug a Porcupine?
You and Me
Hug
My Heart Is Like a Zoo
Count My Kisses, Little One
All Kinds Of Kisses
The Ballad of Valentine
Plant a Kiss
Hug Time

Woof: A Love Story
Wherever You Are: My Love Will Find You
The Perfect Hug
Love, Ruby Valentine
Ruby Valentine Saves the Day
Falling For Rapunzel
The Valentine Bears
Somebody Loves You, Mr. Hatch
Happy Valentine’s Day, Mouse!
Never Too Little to Love
The Valentine Cat
Snowy Valentine
Thumb Love
Amelia Bedelia’s First Valentine
The Biggest Valentine Ever
I Love You Stinky Face
Will You Be My Valenswine?
Porcupining: A Prickly Love Story
Mama’s Kiss
Lilly’s Chocolate Heart
The Biggest Kiss
OUR TOP FIVE:

1. My Heart is Like A Zoo
The kids and I both loved the fun, heart-themed artwork in My Heart is Like a Zoo by Michael Hall. I can see a craft day coming on that involves creating our own loveable little animals out of hearts!

2. Falling for Rapunzel
All four of my kids {ages 3 – 10} were cracking up throughout this darling book by Leah Wilcox! We loved this non-traditional take on the Rapunzel story and all the silly rhymes!

3. I Love you Stinky Face
This one is a classic, but I didn’t realize until recently that I’ve never read it with my two youngest! We finally read it yesterday and they enjoyed it so much! We need to add this one to our family library very soon.

4. How do you hug a Porcupine?
I think I might have loved this book even more than the kids did! The clever rhymes and the adorable little porcupine stole my heart from the first page. Such a cute story.

5. Wherever you are: My love Will Find You
This is a book I’ll be purchasing for our family library as soon as I can. The message in this book by Nancy Tillman is absolutely beautiful – I found myself tearing up more than once while reading this book with the kids. It’s the kind of book that will become a family treasure and I think that one day I’ll purchase a copy for each of my kids to take with them when they move away from home.

Now it’s your turn…I’d love to hear in the comments, if there are any more fun valentines books that you think are missing from our list!
