Ok, this weeks simple thing…wasn’t so simple, but it was defintately the highlight of our week so I wanted to share. On Friday we welcomed Queen Beatrix of the Netherlands, Crown Prince Willem-Alexander and his wife Princess Maxima to Statia. I was asked to be part of the local press and it was an incredible, once in a lifetime experience for sure! I’ll be sharing more photos from the Royal family’s visit soon, but here are a couple shots from our day. I wouldn’t have been able to spend the entire day photographing the Royals without a super sweet husband who took the day off studying to keep the kids and chauffer me around to various locations. He was just as excited as I was for this incredible opportunity and it meant the world to me. I love that photo of him with two of his three girls and the fact that’s he’s carrying the diaper bag makes me smile. 🙂 Carson got to perform for the Queen with some other students from his school and it was so fun to watch him and get a front row seat for photos to boot! 🙂 Friday also happened to be his 7th birthday and I think performing for the Queen of Holland made it a pretty memorable one!

Can you imagine what it is on April 30th each year? That’s our Queensday (Koninginnedag), the day we celebrate the birthday of our head of state! We saw a report of the visit last night on tv. It was a swinging visit!
