Capturing Real Life: Printable Photo Checklists

Saturday, June 23, 2012

Want to capture magical moments with your phone? Join our 7-day email course, Beyond Snapshots, and master the art of mobile photography. Learn more.

This week we’re celebrating the release of my third eBook Real.Life.Photography.
Check out all the bloggers who have been hosting giveaways and stop by for a chance to win my latest book PLUS as set of the Simple Fixes: Actions for Photoshop and Photoshop  by Addy Lane. Find the list of bloggers here or search hashtag #reallifephotos on twitter for links to all the current giveaways!

Today I thought I’d share an exclusive little peek into the book with ya’ll. These are pages from the book that aren’t shared on the Ella Publishing website. There is just so much info packed into this 70 page eBook and I want to give you a taste of what’s inside.

One of the things I enjoyed sharing in the book are the photos that illustrate the story behind how I got the shot. It’s not often that I get my camera out to capture a perfectly sweet moment where I’m not met with some challenges – be it lighting issues, an uncooperative subject, etc. See the series of images taken above for instance, illustrating the outtakes that lead up to THE shot.

I’ve also included a section in the book titled “enhancing real photos” which talks a bit about photo editing and subtle image enhancements. I’ve included step by step photo examples using various photoshop tools and the Simple Fixes: Actions for Photoshop and Photoshop Elements.  For even more information about the Simple Fixes action set and what they can do check out this post.

Another thing that I’ve included it the book that I’m really excited about are some photo checklists. I’ve created several printable photo checklists through the years for anything from summer time photo ops to travel photo ideas and these lists have been some of my most popular downloads here at Simple as That.  When writing my eBook I wanted to include some exclusive photo checklists and inside you’ll find:

12 Real life photos to take today
31 Real Life photos to take this month
52 Real life photos to take this year

I don’t know about you, but I always love a good list and these checklists are such a great jumping off point to inspire your own photo ideas. You can find links below to all photo checklists available for free download at Simple as That.

If you enjoy this FREE printable photo checklists please post to facebook, twitter or give them a pin on pinterest! I really appreciate you sharing my work. Thank you so much! 🙂

This book looks fantastic! Your so lovely sharing your tips 🙂 Would you recommend this book to someone who is a beginner? Or should I read the other two first? Thank you Bianca.

Do you have any plans for checklists based on age? It seems like milestones come so fast it is hard to remember to take pictures of what my daughter already is doing now.
