On the 10th my sweet Addie turned four and even though I’d boycotted friend parties during our stay on the island in an effort to simplify, I still wanted to put together a special little family party for her.
I gathered what supplies I could find or borrow from a friend and here’s a peek at what I was able to come up with…

Be prepared for photo overload. I love, love, loved the colors and the light was HEAVENLY during the party so…there’s a lot. ๐
An overseas move means you can’t pack things along like your favorite cupcake stand, so I created this 3 tiered masterpiece using different sized white plates and miscellaneous jars.
A pair of old shutters made the perfect backdrop for our little party table. I added a couple of doily banners {it really took some searching to find those things!} and created the yellow bunting in photoshop. I cut it out, attached all the pieces to a string and voila. It’s super simple, but I love the pop of yellow and that pretty fashion engraved font.
Please don’t look too closely at my cupcakes. I am not a cake decorator by any stretch of the imagination, but adding a handful of coordinating toothpick flags makes anything look cuter, right!? After these photos were snapped the icing melted in the heat and promptly slid right off those cupcakes. Ha! Sad and a mess, but they still tasted good. ๐
Hello sweet Birthday girl! Even though the guest list wasn’t long, Addie loved her little party. It was simple and quiet but couldn’t have been more perfect! ๐
For the gift wrapping I created some fun paper flowers, and to personalize the gift bag I used this tutorial to create a silhouette of Addie. I then printed it on cardstock and glued it to the bag.

Throw in a few old books I got for free from the library, some yellow flowers we picked along the road and a handful of recycled jars and pop bottles and that’s it. Nothing fancy and certainly nothing expensive….but sometimes sweet and simple is all you need.
It was such a special day for our big girl. In fact, she declared it her “best berfday eveh” which was proof enough to me that elaborately planned, expensive parties aren’t necessary to create special memories. A lesson I’ll be taking home with me, when it come to future parties, for sure.
Simple is definately where its at. ๐
Happy, happy birthday to my sweet Addie girl.
We love you little monkey.

This is gorgeous! We just had a cake and some snacks for my son’s 4th birthday this year…he was so excited to have a Baymax cake (decorated with printables, not fondant to make it even easier!) He didn’t care about anything else…the parties are mostly for me anyway ๐
