33 Things I’m Thankful For

Friday, July 15, 2011

It’s my birthday today & I decided that instead of focusing on turning one year older {ewwww!}I’d spend this week coming up with a list of things I’m thankful for. I can feel a yearly birthday tradition coming on! I so needed to do this and it totally helped change my perspective
on turning the big 3-3! 😉
 . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . .
1.I’m so thankful for this little family of mine. They truly are the joy of my life.
Most of the time. 😉
2. I’m thankful for pretty red nail polish and chubby little toes.
3. I’m thankful for my sister. Love that girl and miss her so much!
4. I’m thankful for dishwashers. I liked having a dishwasher. I miss it and can’t wait until I have one again! Although seeing these kids work together like this once-in-a-glorious-while is pretty sweet!

 5. I’m thankful for afternoon naps. Afternoon naps are the best.
6. I’m thankful for new friends. We’ve made some wonderful new friends since we moved here through church, Randal’s school and from around the island.
7. I’m so thankful for the experiences we’ve had living here. The kids have been able to see and learn things they couldn’t have anywhere else. I appreciate this experience for so many different reasons. Mostly for the fact that its brought our little family closer together.
8. I’m thankful for quiet moments. They’re few and far between which makes me appreciate every quiet moment that comes my way. 🙂
9. I’m so thankful for my health. This ‘ole body of mine may not be perfect, but I feel good…better than I have in a while and I’m so thankful for that.
10. I’m so thankful for my faith and the strength it gives me in my challenges and the way my beliefs shape how I see the world and how I raise my family. I’m so thankful for my relationship with my Savior.
 11.  Fans are something to be thankful for.
A/C is expensive and we couldn’t live in this heat without our fans.
12. I’m thankful for all of our families. We miss them so much – especially during these summer months when we’d usually be hanging out with them. 🙁 Miss you guys!
13. I’m thankful for my mom.
I love you so much mom & am thankful for the example you’ve been in my life.
 14. I’m thankful for strawberries + bananas + fresh mangos!
15. I’m thankful for our little car.
16. I’m thankful for electricity.
17. I’m thankful for pretty flowers picked by chubby little hands.
18. I’m SO thankful for cool, rainy days.
19. I’m thankful for beautiful sunsets.
20. I’m thankful for my dad. Love you so much dad!
21. I’m thankful for lazy summer days. Not getting out of our PJ’s ALL day, watcing morning cartoons, going for walks after supper, eating popsicles and having picnics on the lawn.
22. I’m thankful for cold ice water.
23. I’m thankful for my testimony of the gospel and for the experiences I’ve had in my life
that have helped me gain that testimony.
24. I’m thankful for the opportunity to experience new cultures.
25. I’m thankful for little girls who like to do my hair.
26. I’m thankful for photos and all the memories they hold.
27. I’m thankful for new words. Alivia’s ever expanding vocabulary is just SO dang cute!
She asked me for yogi {yogurt} this morning and I about died. Cutest ever.
28. I’m thankful for my husband. For his patience, his hard work and his example.
29. I’m thankful for books. We couldn’t bring very many with us and I miss our collection of favorite books, which makes me so glad there’s a little local library here!!
30. I’m thankful for Alivia’s reaction whenever I yell “run to mama.”
31. I’m thankful for my brothers and for all my sisters/brothers-in-law.
32. I’m thankful for afternoons spent at the beach.
33. I’m thankful for email, skype and the internet to keep in touch with family
and friends and all of you!

This is such a great idea! I loved reading your thankful list. It was just my 33rd birthday on Monday, and I made a list of all my favorite things right now, but I think I like your “thankful” idea better! I’ll have to change my birthday tradition…

This is beautiful! The photos are wonderful and the journaling fabulous. I think everyone should write a list with their age as a guideline – mine is getting quite long 😉
Hope you have a happy day!

Happy birthday. I can’t imagine 33 being old. You are quite young (and you look it too) (and quite pretty if it doesn’t sound odd for me to say so).

I just commented about this post in your “Simple Things” post (which I wish I could participate in, but do not have a blog of my own:() Anyway, I just looked through it again. I’ve said this in other comments, but I think it’s such an amazing experience for your family to be living in such a tropical place. What amazing memories your children (especially Emily) will be able to take away from these 18 months…you and your husband too! Love seeing your pictures! Thank you!

Yah! I’m number 33. lol. Beautiful list. And great idea. I did a similar thing last year, but don’t think I shared pics. That family shot is priceless. And you certainly don’t look your age. It’s fun getting to know you one post at a time.
