I love “eavesdropping” on my kids on the monitor when they are playing upstairs. Conversations between a 3 1/2 year old and an 18 month old are hilarious.
a great skill needed in life and learning is the ability to extrapolate. you take the known and try it on the unknown. with one piece of information you have a rule, then as more information comes in you see if your rule stands. so my brilliant daughter went from ‘button’ ti ‘zippon’ (as in, zippon me up please). and in our house, that grammatical rule stands because that glimpse into her mind makes me smile inside and out whenever i hear her say it. skeime (at) gmail

A simple thing that made me simple recently was yesterday at the zoo when two of my kids(who had been fighting all day) were walking behind me holding hands (which they never do)! It reminded me of them being tiny all over again.

A simple thing that makes me smile is when I put my babe down for a nap I do so in my bed and lay with her. She plays with my hair to fall asleep and then I get up and do what I need to get done for the day. When it’s time to wake her up I slide quietly back into the bed and quietly play with her face and whisper her name. Then I pretend to be asleep beside her and watch here slowly wake up. She stretches and makes sweet little noises then once she has come out of her deep sleep she starts to play with my face and says “mommy” in a whisper. This is the best part of life right now.

Reading to my youngest son, the only one still small enough to fit on my lap, is my favorite simple thing! Knowing how fast he will grow out of my lap makes it seem far more profound than simple. I know, bcause his big brother and sister already have.
Lately I have really enjoyed that my 2yo is mostly potty trained, meaning no diapers to change and she is so proud of wearing panties. Plus she gets super excited hen she realizes her favorite character is on her panties.
I just like being myself and being silly… its great when you make your own self crack up!

My boys giving each other hugs, that’s what made me smile today.
Watching my husband read to our 4yr old son…watching them build in the garage…when my little guy comes running to me when I pick him up from preschool or church….. after 3 and a half years of waiting to hear those words “I love you, mama”.
