It made me want to start scrapbooking again.
I love that Simple Scrapbooks gave me the freedom and ideas to scrapbook with the focus on the pictures and the story. I don’t have time to create elaborate pages or make my own embellishments and was tired of seeing those types of layouts in magazines… until Simple Scrapbooks came along! I miss you guys already!
The way you all really made it SIMPLE, and fun to scrapbook. I never tried the 8×11 format but it always looked good and I learned a lot reading the magazine.

I don’t know if the Random Generator ever picks #1, but I’ll get things started. One issue of Simple that I keep with me is an old one that had a great article on school scrapbooks. It had some really great ideas, and I refer to if often for my kids’ scrapbooks.
I love everything about Simple: the layouts, the concepts, the finished product. Too sad.
What I love about Simple Scrapbooks is that it gave me “permission” to create pages that were “simple” and beautiful to me. I didn’t have to create elaborate works of art (aka:some scrapbook pages)that I didn’t have the talent to create. Thanks Simple – you will be missed.
I don’t know if I can narrow it down to a favorite issue or article . . . Simple Scrapbooks not only changed the way I scrapbook, but it encouraged me to just be me when I scrapbook! 🙂
I love that it made creating lovely scrapbooks that captured real memories do-able – even for a self-diagnosed perfectionist like myself.
It was the fact that everything was simple- no frills- no mess- just a story…

The May/June 2007 issue…Cathy Zielske did a layout on page 55 that I scraplifted and it is my favorite to date. I loved the fact the Simple Scrapbooks was just that…simple. Not a lot of fluff and junk …just enough design to show off my beautiful family.
I always liked the readers section where they showed the page then told random facts about the person who did it. I always wanted a page in there.
I always enjoyed the simple layouts that I could easily personalize in my own books.
One thing that I love the most about Simple Scrapbooks, was all of the different little tips & techniques that I learned in each different issue. Thanks for the opportunity to share! Have a blessed day! 🙂

I don’t know if I could pick just one thing about what I loved about Simple … there are just too many things to list. I will say that I was a subscriber since Day 1 and will miss getting the magazine delivered to my house.
What Simple taught me was that I didn’t have to have a “fully” embellished page to make it look beautiful … simple is beautiful.
Simple helped me remember to focus on the story and memories with my scrapbooking.
The thing I loved about Simple was that it allowed me to scrapbook pages that doesn’t look anything like the people churned out by the women at crops I go to – AND THAT’S OKAY!
I love the whole simple approach to scrapbooking. I love the look of the clean lines and simple pages. In fact, Rebecca, I recently scrap-lifted a page of yours and I love how it came out! Thanks for the inspiration!

I was a charter subscriber. To me, Simple was more than a way to scrapbook, it was a way of LIFE. I appreciated layout ideas that aren’t so complicated they take days to complete. I love “cardstock only” and super simple embellishment layouts. The ideas were classic, timeless. Had I known it was going away, I wouldn’t have recycled my old issues.
I love how Simple brought to light the simple joy of scrapbooking. That there was no one way or right way of doing it. Use as little or as much, do as little or as much, do what YOU want. I love Simple and will miss it greatly!
I loved the write from the heart section and the articles on creativity that ran as a series. Thanks for Celebrating Simple! and giving us a little more SIMPLE.
Simple got me LOVING scrapbooking again. I have been at it since I was 12. But until just over 2 years ago when I discovered Simple, I didn’t totally “love” it. Now it is at the back of my mind always. I love writing down the stories of our life for my children. I would sure have loved something like that for myself.

What I loved about Simple … was its simplicity. Honest. Sounds cheesy, but it’s true!
Simple magazine reminded me that my layouts are my layouts and taking ideas from others is great but to also stick to what you know and what your personal style is! To me it it is more about developing my style from inspiration of others.
simple helped bring me back to the reality of my inadequate scrapping time and what’s important to me. while i still play with elaborate techniques, simple is more my style. i love all the special issues that I will continue to refer to again and again!
this philosophy of simple scrapbooking really struck a chord with me. 🙂 especially the permission to fore go chronological scrapping.
I loved that it let me know that there was no wrong way to scrap and that scrapping could take many forms. I loved the sitting and chatting with friends feel to the magazine and I LOVE that is allowed so many wonderful women to become part of my scrapping experience…
My favorite special issue is “Scrapbook Play with Photos” I was very ready to learn some ways to work with my photos that I hadn’t thought of and I am still exploring the many ideas.
I loved the simplicity of it. That I didn’t need to buy lots of product or follow the latest trends. Simple meant easy and easy means that I can get it done. 🙂

Simply put I loved the edit to keep it simple; it’s a classic style that focused on the pictures and the “story” behind the pictures. I’m so going to miss that magazine. Love the Mini Album special issue.
This certainly won’t come as a surprise to anyone who has ever picked up an issue of Simple Scrapbooks, I’m sure many of us feel this way. It gave me permission to be relaxed about scrapbooking. To make it my own. To make it about the story and not the latest & greatest products. It made it about real life.
SS gave me freedom to create without the guilt and stress. it made scrapbooking fun and exciting again.
I always loved that Simple Scrapbooks celebrated simple but stunning layouts that always seemed achievable.
I loved the Quiz/Interview Issue! Loved it all.
I love all the clean lines and graphic/advertisement like layouts-eye candy for me :0). I will miss those.
BTW as a side note (not to score more points or anything like that-although it helps right? HAHA-but seriously) I have your book and when I first got it clicked so well that I went through the whole thing…I thought that since I have now found your blog you might like to know that it is a really inspiring book!

I’ve always loved Simple Scrapbooks just because when I looked through the pages it made me feel like home. When I started scrapbooking shabby chic was all the rage and I personally found that it was overwhelming to my senses. Simple was the place that I could go “ahhh” and continue to perserve my memories. I’m not sure that I ever could pick a favorite issue or article because they all spoke to me. I do remember the Inspriation issue where Cathy Z had taken inspriation from a Jones soda bottle and make a great mini album about her son. That one has been well loved by me 🙂
My fave SS books are Cathy Z’s Clean & Simple books. Shortly after I got both volumes, I had them spiral bound. I was going through them so much, the binding was coming apart (okay, well maybe that was just a binding error from the printers, but nonetheless, they were falling apart fast).
I haven’t gotten your book yet, but want it.
I loved the photo album scrapbooks special issue. For the first time I realized that my albums work with my scrapbooks & aren’t just a place to store photos until I got caught up with scrapping them.
Stacy Julian did an article on doing a mini album in 4 hours. My friend and I did it. It took us all day (but we took a lot of breaks). I never thought I could do that. It turned out great!
Simple Scrapbooks is just my style of scrapbooking and I am sad to see it go. I am always on the lookout for anything you do, Rebecca.
I devoured each and every issue of SS. I bought the special ones each time I could. I breathe the SS philosophy, and my cropping friends (who – for whatever reason – are stuck in the creative memories warp) are sick of hearing my try to explain why this is SO much better…
I loved Cathy’s design column.
I liked the classic styles that were..well, simple! I enjoyed Cathy’s column too.
SS was just that, Simple. I would look at other mags and tell myself, there is no way I can do that. But, SS was inspirational for a novice scrapbooker to the ‘professional’. I subscribed to about four mags, then cut it down to just SS. I tossed all the others in the recycyle bin, but I have kept all my SS. Thanks for the memories. CindyML

Cathy’s column, from the type column she did to the design one she was doing when it ended- lots of good, usable info. which is why I loved the magazine- the info was always usable/adaptable/inspiring.
I loved the simple designs that Simple had but yet had some awesome layout ideas.
I will miss Simple scrapbooks! I found so much inspiration in every issue. I loved the photography tips, type tricks and mini-album ideas!

Simple showed me that beautiful pages can be created with just plain old cardstock, pictures and journalling. Fancy embellishments are not required for creating amazing family keepsakes. I thrived on the inspiration in each issue, scraplifting many, many layouts (the design aspect is my one creative block!).

I could always find something inspiring in Cathy’s articles. Also LOVE your book and use it all the time. The last issue was wonderful and really makes losing Simple all the harder!
SS made me realize that scrapbooking is a way of life…scrapbooking isn’t just that page you put in a clear plastic cover. It’s the way you interact with others, it’s the way you share of yourself, it’s the way you parent, it’s the way you create….and it can come in so many many forms. SS made me realize that to balance this life, I could do it simply. I am forever grateful.
My favorite thing about Simple was that it made me think about the story I wanted to tell. Was it really that I went to Stonehenge and the rocks were big? Or was it that through traveling around, I really developed a fascination with history that has compelled me to spend time learning about something completely out of my previous realm? I like the second one much better!
I love the philosophy of SS. It got me back into scrapbooking after many years b/c I had that “I’m so behind” feeling all the time.
Loved that the layouts and projects all seemed real and do-able.
I loved that I could not use tons of embellishments and still feel like I scrapped well,

Quick&Easy Photo Albums is my favorite and I still look through it weekly. I have made ME mini books for my kids to document who they are at this age. I made a 5×7 board book – Top 10 Reasons We Love Nana & Papa for grandparents day and the list goes on and on 🙂

I love that simple scrapbooks took the fear out of scrapbooking away. When I got married I wanted to do something different. My cousin had been scrapbooking for years, so I decided to check out Simple just because I have always liked things being simple and straight forward. When I saw the designs I thought I could do some of those things. I wanted my wedding album to look like that. Now I have been scrapbooking for a year now and am grateful that Simple existed. Without it I might have been too afraid to enter into this awesome world of creating memory books for my future children to enjoy.

I have loved EVERYTHING about Simple Scrapbooks. The layouts are so clean and clutter-free, and they are actually doable. I will miss this magazine so much 🙁
I loved that Simple was about creating well designed pages that were about the photo and the story. It seems that so much scrapbooking has become about how much stuff you can fit on one sheet of paper, to the point where the photo is overwhelmed by all the embellishments – but not my SS!
I found a back issue at my LSS (September/October 2007) and the article “Focus On Photos” was great. I am always looking to improve my photography skills and any tips are always helpful to me!
Simple gave me permission to scrapbook out of order.
One thing that really worked for me was the baby album template that Cathy Zielske created for the Baby Issue in 2002 or 2003. I have copied that formula and used that template no less than 9 or 10 times, and I’m getting ready to do it again this month, for Baby #2. It really took the pressure off of creating a perfect Baby album.
I loved that Simple Scrapbooks was so REAL! It helped me with so many different “learning curves” and was so easy to read and look forward to the next issue.
I’ve always loved Mi’Chelle Larsen’s pages…everytime I see one I wanna go scrap.
I am really going to miss Simple. I loved that the layouts were easy, didn’t use a lot of product and many times simply focused on a photo.
Loved that it wasn’t over the top, the pages could be scraplifted without needing a degree in art!

I was looking back through my scrapbooks the other night and I didn’t notice how “bad” or out of dat my older pages were. I was so happy that I took the time to scrapbook the things that I had already forgotten about! In’t that what it is all about (not making your own fancy embellishments). Thank you SIMPLE for giving me that focus on telling my story.
There was nothing I didn’t love about Simple Scrapbooks! Everything was do-able and realistic. Simple Scrapbooks will be sadly missed by me!!

Simple’s philosophy made it possible for me to scrap again. Instead of being focused on making my pages “just right”, I focused on capturing the memories. Each issue reinforced that and inspired me.
My favorite article showed off a great mini album- dealing with beach photos! It was so cute and unique! I have it tucked away for future use and hope to get to it some day. SS always had such simple yet stylish ideas!
Simple is my style…and it was my absolute favorite scrapbooking magazine. I particularly liked lifting simple layouts. I loved Simple Schemes, and I remember one article in particular about organizing embellishments that I enjoyed. Just so much to love!
I couldn’t have documented the memories I did in the last 8 years without Simple’s help. By focussing on getting the page done rather than done right, Simple Scrapbooking shaped by approach and preserved my sanity and memories.
I just love the Simple philosophy and that I don’t have to scrapbook in chronological order nor do I have scrapbook every photo.
Simple helped me realize that I could scrap & more importantly helped me define my own style.

I loved so many of the special issues. They went beyond the usual idea galleries and baby themes and into really simple, yet fun ideas that perfectly captured the Simple philosophy. A couple of my most recent favorites were the Scrapbook Play issue and the fast and easy scrapbooks using photo albums.
I just loved all of the simple page ideas – get the memories down without a lot of stress!
I loved that the magazine was NOT full of pages that took hours to make. SS is much more realistic for already overwhelmed scrappers.

For years I have loved the SIMPLE part of SS. I didn’t have to spend hours on a page to save my memory. I could simply create a treasure. Thanks so much for your part in this endeavor.

I love the focus on the basics–photos and journals. It’s an album with a little artistic flair, not an artistic album with a few pictures.
I loved how I never felt intimidated by the layouts in Simple. I felt, when looking at the pages, that I could scrap that well too! I “lifted” many pages and many page ideas.

how can i just pick one thing? i love the entire magazine, cover to cover, every idea, article, layout. it inspires me to remember and cherish my life. if only i could scrap it quicker!

I wish I had found Simple earlier in my “scrapbook career”. It is about the moments, the everyday, the simple approach. It will be greatly missed. Hope to see it come around again someday . . .
I’d have to say my favorite is the special issue “Album Shortcuts”. I found so much inspiration in this and have given this as a gift several times.
My favorite of SS were the special issues. The most inspirational one was album shortcuts from summer 2007. Loved it so much that the pages are coming off the seam binding and the corners are dog eared. It changed the way I created my books and I even gave gift albums because of this issue. Before I was just absolutely afraid no one would enjoy my creations. Happily they have been well received, even expected at this point. 😀
What finally got me was an article by Stacy about scrapbooking her trip to Africa last year. She taught me how to edit down my gagillion photos to just the very best, and to be tickled with it. I’m so sad Simple is gone, but I am very exited to see all of you blogging and to be able to take classes at Big Picture! Keep up the good work, magazine or no, ladies!

As I thumbed through each issue I’d look at nearly every single layout and think, “I can do that.” I didn’t feel overwhelmed or intimidated. Loved that it was full of ideas and inspiration that made me want to get my pictures out and play.
I wish that I had seen some of the early editions of the magazine. I subscribed at the end of last year so I haven’t gotten many magazines. I really liked the special publications that I picked up- especially the one with all the little scrapbookds in it. Very doable.

The SS philosophy literally saved my life! I no longer put any pressure on myself to do anything other than enjoy playing with photos, paper and words. Prior to that I was almost paralyzed with the backlogged pictures and stories. Thank you SS!!

I loved the recent special issue that had so many ideas about blended scrapbooking. I loved everything about simple, it made me feel ok about my scrapbooking.
Wow, I just loved it all. I couldn’t wait to see the columns in each issue, the new layouts and products. Everything. Sorry, I can’t call out one thing.
SS was my favorite magazine. In a word it was the Simplicity of scrapping. It shouldn’t be that hard. My only hope is that CK will incorporate more than just a little bit of the SS philosophy into their magazine or they will not be far off from ending either. SS will be sorely missed!

I love that it is ok not to scrap every picture. I used to scrap events like they were going out of style, but a few years ago when I discovered Simple, I learned to capture the moments. It has changed everything about the way I scrapbook, take pictures, etc….
Simple Scrapbooks Magazine was my all time favorite magazine. It gave me the inspiration to be creative and tell my story, and not worry what embellishments were on my pages. Thanks for all the inspiration, you all will be missed!

Simple Scrapbooks to me was the magazine for the mom who works part time, is involved in the PTA, wants to hang with her friends and still needs to get dinner done & fold a load of laundry! It was me! I’ll miss it!
The best thing – the simple philosophy – I loved that!

For me it was the perfect combination of telling the story and being creative, without being fussy or overdone. I looked at so many of the layouts and thought, “I can do that.”
I love Simple’s approach to scrapping! The first time I heard Stacy speak at a conference, she made me cry…just be telling a story! A story about an album that she’d made for someone else. After that I was hooked. Telling the story is the most important part of scrapbooking!
What’s not to love? I love the simple designs – not too much stuff on the pages; CZ typing/ font information; to me the more simple designs will have more lasting power. I love all of the special edition books and magazines that have spun from the magazine. I love the BPS site that has evolved. I love that I have been able to get to know many of the contributors through their blogs – especially fellow Canadians like you! Thanks for posting!

I loved all the editors & contributors – their pages and philosphy were so inspiring. I love that the layouts were always clean and simple yet still bright, colorful and not plain.
Simple Scrapbooks is why I am a scrapbooker today. I was not at all inspired by all the fancy pages I was seeing elsewhere and became totally hooked on Cathy Zielske’s clean, graphic pages and Simple’s scrapbooking philosophy. Thanks Simple! I already miss you.

There are two things I’ve always loved most about Simple Scrapbooks:
(1) that many of my favorite designers seemed to congregate in one place, and (2) that it gave me permission to pare down my ideas and my plans. I finally had permission to be… well, SIMPLE! And that has been invaluable. Thanks for all the wonderful work and inpsiration!
My favorite were the mini albums but especially loved the photo album special issue. Loved how simple it all made scrapbooking.

I love that even though the magazine will be gone, all the people who MADE the mag will still be here. And you all will still move on. With good things for all of us out here.

I loved the clean lines, the way the sections flowed into each other. It was such an orderly composition and the eyes didn’t feel overwhelmed. I will miss Simple’s easy feeling.
Oh my what’s not too love? if you look at my books 90% of them are scraplifted from Simple, the magazine reaffirmed for me every issue that it doesn’t have to be perfect just heartfelt, I am so missing you already.

Simple Scrapbooks made me feel like I could do this thing called scrapbooking just as well as the rest and for this I must say, “thank you.” It will always be my inspiration for scraping – the classic way of saving our everyday memories with stories & pictures.
I always liked how Simple Scrapbooks helped me get LO’s done. My whole “about me” album is simple and lots of people tell me they like it the best.
The magazine was always full of easy and doable ideas. And with Cathy and Stacy, you just can’t go wrong!
Simple made me realize that I could record memories and create awesome LOs with just a few pieces of paper and 50 embellishments! I’ve learned to spend way less time stressing about product choices. It’s not about products and techniques!
I love the whole Simple philosophy, the designers/writers/editors, the layouts… everything! In the spirit of being more specific… my favourite special issue (at the moment) is Scrapbook Play!

I loved that most layout examples in SS were very realistic. I could “scrap-lift” them quickly without spending 1-2 days on a single layout!

I’m so going to miss Simple in my mailbox! When I look through my albums I find that my favorite layouts don’t have the hippest embellies (fun as they are) – they’re the ones with a great story and a decent photo or two. Thanks for helping me find my focus, Simple!
My favorite special issue is “Scrapbook Play” – I still flip through it for ideas, and I dream of being the funnest scrapbooker ever. The new “Photo Play” is great, too!

I looked forward to every issue just because all the pages were classic and doable – just ‘simple’!I would tear out favorite pictures from all my scrap magazines and the SS mags always had the most pages torn out – so cannot just choose one page or idea – there were too many.
It’s hard for me to explain how sad I am to see SS go. It is the only magazine where I saw LOs that looked like what I do at home. The whole feel of the magazine was just so perfect for me. I will miss it more than I can say.
I loved seeing CathyZ’s pages in particular. Her style clean and easy on the eyes.
My favourite SS special issue is Mini albums in an evening. I was so inspired by everything in there especially the baby album. I got it just before my son was born so it was perfect timing to start an album for him. I LOVE the Simple philosophy and everything it stands for. I will miss reading it so much. JO
So much to love and so many things I’ve learned. One thing though – I’ve got you and Cathy to thank for my love of fonts and learning how to use them on my pages.

This is a little selfish, but Simple is the one and only place I had pages published. I felt so proud to know that I was amongst such great company.
There are too many things to list, but my favs were, (1) issues packed with examples of great design & ideas I could use, and (2) I liked learning about digital everything. It was easy to understand and I felt that I could do it, too.
There wasn’t much I didn’t love about Simple Scrapbooks. The layout designs, the photography, the articles . . . I would have never started scrapbooking had I not discovered Simple.
I love that you made everything just “Simple”.
Oh I loved so much about that magazine I can’t just pick one thing!!!!!
Makes me want to get myself caught up on my scraping!!!
I always appreciated the idea that I could see a layout in the magazine and just go into my stash and make some very comparable. No shopping necessary. (although that is fun too. 🙂

Hi Rebecca – I’m so glad to see you blogging again! I hope you are feeling better! The thing I LOVED about Simple Scrapbooks is that it gave me the freedom to feature my precious memories rather than all the other “stuff” that so often clutters scrapbook pages. I will really miss that magazine!!
I loved Cathy Z’s page where she printed out reverse letters in text boxes then punched the letters and adhered them on a ribbon. Your baby blocks article recently was great too: if I can find it in the moving mess I’ll use it!
I loved everything about Simple, even the advertisments! I am going to miss it so much, I feel like I am mourning the loss of someone. SS inspired me to scrap more, to scrap better, to scrap for me. I’m getting all teary just writing this!
I love so many things about Simple Scrapbook Mag. It seems that over the years I am always inspired by Stacy’s contributions, Even if it is simply the opening editors page. I also love all of Cathy Z articles.

I love the Simple philosophy. One of my favs special issues was the Quiz one. What a great way to capture insights from other people in your scrapbooks!
I loved the look of all the pages and the fact that they were so easy to recreate. Lots of inspiration!
The simplicity! I loved lifting lo’s that were purely coloured cardstock and an embellishment – I will really miss it!
I love that it helped me focus on the more important aspects of my life – my thoughts and feelings, and those around me – than just what we did or we went. It helped me realize that I want future generations to know what I thought and what I was really like, not just accomplishments or events. I’m going to miss Simple a lot!

I loved how many truly simple tips were included in the magazine. I’ve always enjoyed photography but didn’t know much about it – the photography column helped me develop a new level of confidence and appreciation for great photos.
I loved the sense of fun and amusement that appeared in the articles and the layouts.
I loved the special issue with the quizzes/questions. They were great journaling prompts for a minibook I did with my boys! I will so miss Simple!

There isn’t much about Simple Scrapbooks that I don’t love. Seems obvious, but I like that it’s just “simple”…focus on the story and the pictures. No extra fluff. Love that.
I love the fact that simple (and YOU!) helped me to focus on the beauty in my every day events. I love just scrapping a moment from our day along with all the BIG events in our lives!

I love how it simplified everything. I was getting so frustrated because I was sooooo behind in scrapbooking. Simple made me quit worrying about it, and also let me throw away the notion that I HAD to scrap chronologically.
I loved the online community I developed because of Simple. I read regularly most of the blogs by your staff and the Simple blog as well. I found so much energy and creativity in this.
I love the mini album special issue. It is not new but I find myself going back to it for ideas so often.
I loved, well really, all of the special issues. But most especially was the Scrapbook Play. My girlfriends and I had such a good time going through that magazine to recreate the projects mentioned. 🙂
I’ve always loved the website for simple–a constant Simple fix is good!
After reading Simple I was ready to try new things, new sizes, keeping it simple, making it more about my photos. I’m so sad its that last one.
SS reminded me to enjoy the process and not just try to catch up.
What I loved about Simple was that it gave you “permission” to focus on what was important to you and the story in the layout – not necessarily having the “latest” or “fussiest” layout. It will be missed!
SS was the first scrap mag I ever bought and it made me feel like I could scrap great pages.
