Last week we had the incredible opportunity to watch two nests of baby sea turtles hatch & make their way to the ocean from Zeelandia beach on the Atlantic side of the island. It was so amazing! The kids were beyond excited to watch these cute little guys come out of the sand and crawl all the way to the water and see them off!
We first watched a nest of baby green turtles and loved it so much we went back to the beach a day later to watch a nest of baby hawksbill turtles hatch.

you can read more about how they are helping protect & track these turtles on St. Eustatius here
The video cuts out a little too soon to watch the waves catch this little guy and take him out to sea but it’s still fun to watch!

Amazing. All the photos are fantastic but my favorite (aside from the adorableness of the closeups) is the last one of the Baby Greens. I love turtles. We have been about turtles at our house this week – we made some turtles and my son has chosen to draw them for sea animal week at school. Funny coincidence. I will show him your video when he gets home. Thanks for stopping by my blog. The photos of our lives couldn’t be more different, could they? You on the beach and me stuck high in the city! : )

These photos are so peaceful. We’re in the middle of an ice storm where I live, and I’m grateful to see pictures of peace. I’m going to visualize that all day! Thanks!

Lauren, you MUST see this in real life! I so hope you get the opportunity. It was definately once in a lifetime and SO cool!

We ARE so lucky Pam! I didn’t know if we’d be able to see the baby turtles hatch during our stay here – the timing is a little tricky. If only you could have seen us piling in the car the first night and racing down the beach so we didn’t miss it…it was hilarious, but we did get to see them and I’m SO glad we did!
