2014 is here and I couldn’t be more excited! One thing that I’m recommitting to in the new year is making fun and healthy school lunches for my kiddos. We’ve fallen into a bit of a rut lately and I’m looking forward to adding some more variety to our typical lunch lineup.

Last year I shared a weeks worth of healthy school lunch ideas and I’ll be starting with these five favorites and branching out from there. Here’s a quick rundown of the ideas I shared.     I love to make pumpkin chocolate chip bread occasionally for a “carb.” It has part white and part wheat four, so I don’t feel too bad about it. Plus, they think it’s a yummy treat.

    We used to spend so much on bento-style lunch boxes but you converted us to these Easy Lunchboxes! So much easier being able to throw them in the dishwasher, and much easier for my youngest to open. Thanks for more ideas.

    Most of my kids are older, but they still love being surprised, and they’d be surprised with a little rollup sandwich, crackers, fruit and veggies + dip in their lunchbox! Plus a little note from mom, reminding them just how much they are loved.

    My boys love turkey, cheese, and shredded carrot roll-ups. I make them with whole wheat tortillas (the Meijer brand is excellent). I make tomato, avocado, and shredded carrot roll-ups for myself. Thanks for the inspiration, Rebecca!

    Thank you for those great ideas!! My kids bring their lunch everyday and I try to pack healthy stuff but then there are those mornings that we are running behind and I just throw in whatever I can find. My kids do love fruit in their lunches though. And those multi-grain sandwich thins.

    Monica will someday turn INTO Peanut Butter and Jelly! We’ve tried shaking it up over the years (PB and banana, fluffernutter, PB and sliced strawberries, nutella & strawberries, etc.) but PBJ is still her very favorite!
