I had a couple of questions regarding what I’d done to those truck photos so I thought I’d give a quick answer. First, I do all my photo editing in Adobe Photoshop CS2. I have a canon 30D and those photos were taken with my 50mm 1.8 lens.
Here is a comparison on this photo
the original on the left and the edited version on the right. **I should add that when I took these photos it was slightly overcast. Just FYI.
The tool I use the very most when editing any of my photos is the curves tool in photoshop. I use it almost solely, except when I’m converting photos to black and white, I use a few other things for that.
I took the original photo here and using curves bumped the contrast. I then used the burn tool to darken the color in the clouds and around the edges of the photo. I went a little crazy with the burn tool on this photo actually but I like the effect.

I used this action called pastel vibe and then made a few adjustments in curves and pulled out that burn tool again. Nothing too fancy going on here.
And for the lady who asked what a QUAD is…
That there’s a quad. The kids just love going for quad rides with grandpa.
wow the light is so much softer over there!!! (I’m in north qld, australian, where the light is anything BUT!)..will be off to try some of your hints..
Rebecca,
Thanks for sharing the photoediting process of your pics!
Happy NSD!

I’ve been a longtime lurker on your blog. Just wanted to say thanks for all the tips you’ve shared. I love your scrapbooking and photography. Wish I could have you take my family photos. Are you planning a trip to Southern CA anytime soon? You could take the kids to Disneyland 🙂
