Simple as That

Making Everyday Beautiful

no baby yet

Sunday, September 30, 2007

Just lot’s of baby preparations these days and I got a little too caught up in cleaning and helping Randal at the house yesterday and today to get on the computer. I had a moment of panic at one point – I hadn’t cleaned out the vehicles yet! AHHHHH! And I had to get them vaccummed and washed down before this baby gets here. It HAD to be done. And I HAD to bath the dog too. Can’t have a baby and bring her home to a house that has a dirty dog in it now can we. So both vehicles are spotless (on the inside anyway – the outside is Randals department) and the dog smells so pretty. I’m all set to have this baby now as far as I can see.

😉

So lots of great questions to answer. Someone asked if I’d found any fun things for the baby and OH MY! I have! Want to see what I’ve found?????

I keep checking in at Superstore where they have the most darling new baby stuff. I’ve picked up a few pink things there and some little essentials I needed like burp cloths/washclothes and recieving blankets. I went all pink because – oh?? Did I tell you? We had to go in for another ultrasound and this time FER SURE a girl. YAY! I’m so excited. It would have been just fine boy or girl but this girlie shopping is just TOO fun!

Check out this little hat for instance:

So darling. I think I want to order the beige one. But then I keep going back and forth and thinking of getting her to make me a brown one. Beige or brown??? I just don’t know! (all my decision making capabilities are completely non-existent right now!)

I was up late last night watching Martha Stewart reruns (baby had the hiccups) and they showed this Bundle Me Baby that I had to add that to my list of things I need. I never needed one for Emily, she was born in the middle of a Texas summer and when I had Carson I borrowed my sister in laws. I think I need to have a brown one of my very own this time around. 🙂

This little shop has got some cute things. I just love the binky clips don’t you?

I actually ordered this bib and a matching burp cloth. Loved the colors.

And got ‘the girls’ a couple of matching bretts here.

I’ve also been shopping around for a baby sling and this is the one I ended up choosing. I loved the bright blue/green mixed with the brown. Can’t wait to try it out!!

I’m still on the lookout for a cute baby headband with a bow or flower. I’ve never really been into the headband thing…but have been looking around for something understated and pretty. Nothing big. Anyone seen any online or elsewhere?

Lets see. What else? Another thing they had on Martha were these tshirts/onesies by sweet potato prints. They showed how they made them even and I thought they were kindof fun.

Other than that we did buy a crib – never had one until now if you can believe it (we were students when we had Emily and didn’t have room for anything more than a Pack ‘n Play) and I’ve got some cute hand-me-down pottery barn bedding I’m excited to dig out. Building a house has pretty much blown the budget this year so there’ll be no elaborate decorating of the baby’s room or anything. Keeping things really simple around here, just using whatever clothes of Emily’s will be in season (which won’t be much I’m afraid with one being born in the Texas heat and the other in what’s sure to be a cold Canadian October….darnit…..just might need to do some more shopping I guess!) 😉 But I’ll save that for later. For now I think I should be all ready to go. I’ve got the newborn clothes all washed and ready for baby to wear.

It seems we’re only missing one thing now….

It’s all so cute Rebecca! I wish I knew about the Etsy shop when I had my daughter 4 years ago. It would have definitely enhanced the ‘baby girl’ shopping experience.
Best wishes for a quick & easy delivery!! Looking forward to seeing those first photos.

Rebecca, I looked at that Superstore link and was so excited at all the neat things I saw. I am so sad that I can’t get any of it because I don’t live in Canada. Do you know if they sell on the web anywhere or where I can get similiar stuff? Thanks so much.

There is a online company run by some girls here in Calgary called Bella Babies, and they make the cutest headbands and bows for newborns. Hope that helps!
