This weeks quick photo tip:
I’ve developed a bit of an obsession with self timer photos over the past year. I’m not sure why, but they’re fun + I’ve captured some of my favourite photos using the good old self timer, so I just can’t help myself. Getting a good self timer shot can be tricky, but is definitely not impossible….
Say hello to another one of my fabulous sponsors, The Rusted Chain!
Beki Hastings is the owner + creative mind behind The Rusted Chain jewellery. Her designs feature the best of rustic elegance and trendy looks and each piece she creates is custom made using sterling silver, stainless steel, natural stones, and the finest components.

Thanks for the reminder of the self timer option Rebecca 🙂 I always drop little sarcastic hints to my Husband that my blog is missing Mummy shots from it, because I am usually the one behind the lens 🙂
And there has also been so many moments I’ve had with my little ones, when no-one else is around to take a photo, but I would so love to have it captured. I never thought to use the self timer….derrr :))))
I love love love your photos using the self timer. Perfect captures of you & your bubs 🙂

Thanks so much for the photo love…that’s the first time I’ve ever been featured…I’m so excited!
I’ve been working some on using the self-time feature, too…had to with the recent self-portrait challenge, and yes, I love it in low light situations…just need to get a tripod (and maybe a remote!).
Thanks again!

Thanks for the tips! I just got a tripod for Christmas and am still experimenting with the self timer. I love the photos you captured with yours, I haven’t gotten that far along in my creative thinking yet – but I’m excited to try 🙂 On an unrelated note, thanks for turning me onto Addy Lane! I bought some of her actions before she retires them. I just love them!

Thanks for the tip, I need to do that more (or at all)!

I like trying self-timer shots as well. It’s a race against the camera to set up your shot and wait for the click. Lovely captures, Rebecca. 🙂

I need to bust out the tripod and utilize the self timer! Thanks for the reminder. 🙂

Great reminder to use the self timer! Some of my favorite family photos are from a self timer. Not always the best composed shots, but the memories they capture are priceless. I so wish I had a picture of diaper changing time, like yours. Something you do countless times a day for years, and then they’re out of that stage and you have no photos. Great post!

I have never been so grateful for a self-timer! My goal for 2012 is to take a picture of me and my fiance because this is the year we are getting married (in the Kansas City Temple)!
Thanks for the tips. It’s kind of hard to come up with different poses each day (so that I can be in the picture too) but it is making me think more creatively!

I definitely need to figure out how to use the self-timer on my camera, and start using it. I’ve been complaining that I’m never in any of our pictures – because I’m the one taking them! Thanks for the reminder – and encouragement!!
