Yes, there is snow on the ground right now. Not impressed by this at all. Why? Because:
1. It’s too cold! I hate the cold and I’m very quickly running out of warm clothing that fits. I’ve gotten big so fast this time it seems and what I have that might fit me right now is for warmer weather. So unless I’m going to spend the next few weeks wearing PJ bottoms and a huge sweatshirt it’s gonna have to warm up!
2. Two little kids that I know are going crazy indoors. They want to be outside riding their bikes so badly!
3. Icky weather means Randal can’t be working on our house. We won’t be into it before this baby is born – totally unrealistic but I keep hoping it COULD be possible. I need to stop that but I just can’t help but be anxious.
4. The muddy mess that is our soon to be home right now is really very yuck! Especially when Randal brings half of it back here with him on his work clothes and his boots.
Where is spring??? Hopefully it will show up soon. 🙂
Despite the weather delays work is progressing over there. I thought I’d share a couple pictures… (this might be considered boring for most so feel free to switch blogs now.)
Tuesday was a big day for us, the cement trucks were all there and we poured our basement walls. We are doing this house out of foam block and the walls all get filled with cement. So we all packed up and headed over to the new house to watch. Emily thought it was neat, Carson was just downright fascinated, as he has been with the entire process so far. All the tractors and tools are just right up his alley!
So here is where we’ve gotten to, beginning March 26th when the topsoil was cleared, March 28th when the hole was dug and as of tuesday all the basement walls up.
On tuesday the cement trucks came
Randal filled the walls with CE-ment
He had a lot of help from his dad and several other men. He even had an audience. (Some Hutterite’s wanted to come and see how things worked with the blocks I think. It was too funny seeing them all standing there so I had to snap a quick picture all sneaky like.)
Cool huh! Well Carson sure thought so!
There’s so much more to be done, this is only the beginning but we’re glad to have that over with. As soon as this snow clears up and it drys a bit Randal will be back to work. We’re missing him around here, gone every night until 9:30pm and Saturdays all day. He’s been working so hard AND putting up with a cranky pregnant wife. What a guy!

If it stays cold for too long let me know if you want some warm maternity clothes, they are just sitting in the basement.

We went through the same thing when I was pregnant with Ryan. Matt did all the framing himself and I didn’t see him all day long. It will be so nice when you’re finally in, though, and when it warms up a bit! It snowed here too a couple days ago!

Can’t wait for you to get into your new house. Will have to take a tour next weekend when we come down (nothing like checking out some footings and dirt:) except when it is your dirt. Love the hutterite photo, almost makes me home sick.
