Hello… I’m Sara! I co-author the lifestyle blog, Simply Happenstance, with my dear friend Nicole! We are so honored to be guests on Simple as That! {Thanks so much, Rebecca, for having us! We are overjoyed!}
Today, we are sharing a recipe for a delightful summer drink to enjoy with your kids! It’s easy to make, using only a few delicious ingredients! The best part is that the recipe uses a mixture of fresh summer berries! Vanilla ice cream adds creaminess, while sparkling water gives the drink some added pizzazz! This is a fabulous drink to sip on poolside, or at your next social gathering!
We hope you’ll whip up a batch of these Sparkling Berry Floats and let us know how you like them! {You can find the original recipe in the June, 2014 issue of Martha Stewart Living magazine.}
Sparkling Berry Floats
Ingredients:
4 cups of fresh mixed berries, sliced {I used strawberries, blackberries, and raspberries}
½ cup granulated sugar {or sweetener of choice}
1 ½ quarts vanilla ice cream {I used Breyers Natural Vanilla}
1 bottle {approximately 25 oz.} of sparkling water {I used S. Pellegrino}
Method:
Combine 4 cups of sliced berries with sugar in a large mixing bowl. Place on the kitchen counter, stirring occasionally for 45 minutes. {The berries will transform into a juicy sauce.}
To make the float, alternate berry mixture with scoops of vanilla ice cream in a large glass. Top with a splash of sparkling water {approximately ¼ to ½ cup depending on your cup size}. Serve and enjoy immediately!
You can also use the berry mixture to top ice cream, shortcakes, pancakes, or French toast! Yum!
