It’s been forever since I shared some photos from around the island & today I thought I’d give you a little glimpse into our life here on Statia.
There are trips to the school to pick up kids, attend outdoor school assemblies & run lunches/water bottles to forgetful children. 🙂

There’s Dutch homework.
Lot’s of playing outside on the rope swing & helping clean up the yard {as soon as they can walk we put them to work in this family.};)
The kids love spotting lizards, goats, chickens & all kinds of interesting creatures around the island, some of which can be found in our own backyard!
A view of our house, a bit of the yard & our little island car.
It definately took some getting used to, but we drink shelf stable milk & I use the powdered stuff for all my baking. I look forward to drinking a tall glass of cold Dairyland when we get home but for now we’re just fine & we’ve actually really enjoyed the different Dutch foods we’ve been able to try.
Alivia’s day just wouldn’t be complete if she didn’t empty out the contents of at least one of the kitchen cupboards.
There’s laundry to do and dishes to be washed. {Heaven help me, this girl just figured out how to reach things using a stool/chair or any other household item she can find to stand on. Busy, busy baby! }
On Saturday’s there’s {usually} swimming lessons at the local pool or the occasional trip to the library.
We love going for Sunday drives & sometimes end up at the beach to look for crabs or watch the pelicans dive for fish at sunset. Sounds heavenly doesn’t it? I’m not gonna lie, it totally is.
We love to go for family walks & just down the road from us we found a new hill to explore. The view from the top is amazing!
Here’s the view looking back towards our house, can you almost see it? We live right at the base of the inactive volcano called The Quill.
That’s just a tiny glimpse at life here on the island. It’s busy, as it would be anywhere around the world with four little kids, but life is good & we’re enjoying everything we can during our time here.

Beautiful pictures. My little boy also empties out the cupboards like that. He can even get past the child proof locks.

LOVE seeing these bits of island life! the images still remind me of Far North Queensland (australia) in the tropics. And it may be in a different part of the world to what we are all used to, but its the “same” different – washing needs to hang and dry, school, groceries, kids….
please keep sharing, its fascinating to see the “same differents”!
